The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom presents players with hundreds of unique side quests, but few are as visually intriguing as the Dyeing to Find It shrine quest. Located within the Mount Lanayru region, this environmental puzzle challenges Link to align shadows to unlock Kurakat Shrine. Understanding the exact steps required turns a confusing riddle into a quick victory.

How to Unlock the Dyeing to Find It Quest

To begin the quest, travel to the Quatt's Shelf area located west of Mount Lanayru's snowy peaks. You will find a Construct NPC standing near a stone structure on a cliffside platform. Speaking to the Construct initiates the Dyeing to Find It objective and provides a riddle pointing to the nearby stone mechanism.

The riddle asks Link to dye the white pattern on the wall black when the sun rises in the morning. Players keeping up with daily gaming news and puzzle guides will recognize this as a classic time-of-day shadow alignment puzzle. Your ultimate goal is to cast a shadow that perfectly covers the highlighted geometric shape on the cliff wall.

Solving the Shadow Puzzle Wheel

Positioned near the Construct is a large T-shaped wooden structure that can be rotated using Ultrahand. Next to it, you will find several wooden boards that can be attached to alter the shape of the shadow it casts. You must attach a wooden board horizontally across the top section of the T-structure to form a broad cross shape.

Once the structure is built, turn the crank nearby so the shadow pattern aligns correctly with the white emblem on the rock wall. If the shadow shape does not match, adjust the orientation of the attached wooden boards until it forms a matching square profile. Proper alignment is key to triggering the shrine's hidden pedestal.

Adjusting Time and Completing the Quest

After assembling and aligning the shadow wheel, you need to wait for the sun to reach the correct morning position. Set up a campfire nearby using a bundle of wood and a flint or fire weapon. Rest at the campfire until morning, which sets the in-game clock to 6:00 AM.

As the sun rises, watch the shadow move across the cliff face toward the white target pattern. Once the shadow completely covers the white shape, the stone mechanism will activate with a chime. The ground will open up, revealing Kurakat Shrine and completing the Dyeing to Find It quest line.

Rewards and Shrine Claiming

Stepping inside Kurakat Shrine provides a Rauru's Blessing reward room, meaning no additional combat or puzzles are required inside. Open the treasure chest to receive a high-tier weapon or material before interacting with the altar. Collecting the Light of Blessing allows you to upgrade Link's stamina or heart containers back at a Goddess Statue.
